CSTL – Scientific and Technological Cooperation for Lorraine

The association Scientific and technological cooperation for Lorraine - CSTL - was founded in December 2006 on the initiative of the Lorraine Regional Council to encourage innovative economy. CSTL is a unique organism in France aiming at bridging the gap between Technology and Business.

CSTL aims to encourage the localization in Lorraine of new innovative projects and to create a sustainable business through the implementation and the support of innovative technological projects. CSTL is based on an international scientific network especially with Russia and Ukraine. CSTL receives financial support from Lorraine Regional Council and from Governmental Ministry of the Economy and Finance.

The Lorraine Regional Council, the Lorraine Institute of Participation and ADIELOR are among the founding members of CSTL along with French large industrial companies such as Safran, MBDA, Total Petrochemicals, Veolia Environnement, AREVA and along with regional companies.

From his experience of 5 years of practice, CSTL has built an original 4 steps methodology:
  1. Identify breakthrough innovations
  2. Qualify the innovation from a technologic perspective
  3. Plan and qualify the innovation from an economic perspective
  4. Start the business
CSTL maintains this process on a permanent basis from the fist step with a database of more than one hundred technological opportunities up the last step with a dozen of business projects.
